Working Girl In Vintage

Thus far the Vintage Outfit of the Day the focus has been on casual, so today we're going to touch on office appropriate clothing.

I have personally worn vintage to work in professional environments since my first office job as a DECCA student in high school, so I know a little something about it. Anything here can be mixed and matched with almost endless options, both vintage and modern, they are all super versatile.

So here's a Vintage Outfit that is conservative enough for just about any professional environment!

First vintage item, a black and white houndstooth pattern vintage blazer from the early 1980's. Whether it's worn open or closed, this adds a professional look to the outfit.

As a basic layer, I've used a short sleeved black mock turtleneck sweater. Of course you could use any color and style of top you want and vary the look a bit.

The pleated ivory silk chiffon vintage skirt is from the 1940's. It was part of a suit and the only item that was salvageable, unfortunately. It's a gorgeous skirt!

You may recognize the vintage black pumps from an earlier post. Vintage Joan & David, these are fabulous versatile dress pumps!

Finally, the pale aquamarine vintage necklace and earring set, incorporating beads made with an experimental technique used by Japanese artisans in US occupied Japan after WWII.

This vintage jewelry set of necklace and matching earrings contains plastic beads that were wrapped in silk paper and hardened using a version of Japanese Urushi lacquer to harden the silk. Pieces made with these beads are rarely if ever found today, making this necklace and earring set unusual.

All vintage clothing items in this outfit is or will be available soon from my Etsy Store! Feel free to contact me if you want to know about a featured item that isn't listed yet. I do vintage and antique detecting too, so, if you're searching for something in particular, I can help!
